striped color

On Friday, I cleaned out our closets and took our summer clothes out of boxes in storage. While doing my "spring cleaning" I came across this skirt, and other clothes I had forgotten I had. It was like I had gone shopping, came back with new clothes and spent no money. I know my husband is jumping up and down with excitment right now.

I think I am going to start hiding clothes, so it's like Christmas morning when I find them again.

Other things on the agenda this weekend were: laying out on my father in laws deck, watching the GSP fight with friends, and smiling the whole weekend because one of my best friends was married this weekend in New Orleans. I wish that everyone in the world could meet these two love birds. Because if you did, you would smile too.

montreal love

This Easter, I went to Montreal to visit my husband's family. What an amazing way to spend Easter. I stuffed myself with cheese, Canadian beer, chocolate croissants, and ketchup chips. My diet started today. I can barely move from all the amazing food.

The weather was much different than our current Georgia weather. The highs were around 50 degrees, so I got to pull out my winter boots, scarves and jackets. I actually enjoyed the colder weather. The hubby and I drank beers overlooking gorgeous terraces, bundled up together while walking the shops on St. Catherine Street, and had some hillarious moments together on the metro.

I tried to take pictures of what outfits I wore each day, but my laziness really took over. Heck, I was on vacation. So, here are some pictures from our awesome trip. Enjoy :)

white dress

I actually wore this dress for dinner on my birthday last weekend. Confused you, huh? That was my objective.

I received this beautiful white dress from my best friend, and this was the first time I wore it. I am obsessed. The silk feels so nice on and I love the back tie that adds that special detail. I just hope you can actually see me, because I am quite pale. My next purchase? Self tanner.

If I could change one thing about this outfit, I would have paired it with a bright color clutch. I am in love with this Vieta heart clutch.

And for the headwrap, well I did warn you that I wear it all the time.

jean shorts

I started to type what we did this weekend, and the first thing I thought to write was that I got TCBY on Sunday. White chocolate mousse with rainbow sprinkles and Oreo crumbs, to be exact. When I used to eat TCBY daily in high school, there was an employee serving the soft ice cream. But, now its self serve. And let me just tell you...that can be very very dangerous. Especially when there are rainbow sprinkles and Oreo crumbs involved. I kept asking my husband, "is this enough?" rather than what I should have been asking, "is this too much?"

I guess when you are speaking of ice cream there is no such thing as too much.

Saturday my mom and I walked around some shops in our hometown, and the weather was cooler than it has been. I was a little nervous about wearing this outfit, and I asked my husband after I got dressed what he thought. He replied, "its um..different". I took that as a compliment. Saturday night, we went out with some friends and I replaced my sweater with a brown H&M blazer to dress it up.

pizza night

Normally, Thursday night is wine night at our house. We cook something really easy and make the night about trying different wines. We have really started a bottle collection in our apt. We are actually running out of room. If you would like to buy an empty bottle of wine from us, I will take $5 a bottle. Any takers?

This Thursday night, we decided to make pizza, bruschetta and went towards the beer route. Beer tastes better with pizza anyways.

I wish that every night was Thursday night. Or that I could eat pizza and bruschetta every night..

Tomato-Basil Bruschetta
5 to 7 roma tomatoes, diced (depending on size)
1/2 cup red onion, minced
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 to 3 teaspoons balsamic vinegar (to taste)
coarse sea salt (to taste)
fresh cracked black pepper (to taste)
1/4 cup basil, sliced into thin ribbons, plus more whole leaves for garnish
1 baguette, thinly sliced on the diagonal

Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (and up to a half a day).
Shortly before serving, heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the baguette slices for a couple minutes on each side. Divide the tomato-basil mixture among the grilled baguette slices. Garnish with additional basil leaves, if desired.

Sausage, Sun Dried Tomato, Zucchini Pizza
1 lb. pizza dough
1 small zucchini, thinly sliced
1/2 red onion, sliced into rings and halved
1/2 cup sausage, cooked, drained and cubed
1/4 cup sundried tomatoes
1 clove garlic, minced
a pinch of hot pepper flakes
a small handful of basil leaves, torn or thinly sliced into chiffonade
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
2 ounces fresh goat cheese

If you’re roasting the squash, preheat the oven to 425. Lay the slices of squash out on a sheet pan, brush them with olive oil on both sides, and sprinkle with coarse salt and freshly ground pepper. Roast until the bottoms are brown, then flip and continue roasting until the tops have started to brown as well. This usually takes me about 20 minutes total. (Alternatively, you can grill the squash.) Set aside.

When you’re ready to make the pizza, preheat the oven to 500 degrees F, preferably with a baking stone on the bottom rack of the oven. Roll out your pizza dough onto a peel or the back of a sheet pan (dust the peel or sheet pan with flour or cornmeal first, or you can roll the dough out onto parchment first before transferring it to the stone.) Top with the shredded cheese, then the garlic, hot pepper flakes, roasted/grilled squash slices, sundried tomatoes, sausage, torn basil leaves, and onion rings. Top with crumbled goat cheese.

Bake pizza until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling, about 8-10 minutes.

polka dotted

When I first started wearing head wraps, my mom told me I looked like an Indian. Maybe I do. But, I am obsessed. I wear this thing all the time. Especially, when I am having a bad hair day OR I need something to add that sparkle to my outfit.

My favorite outfits are the ones that have that special accessory or random pairing. And if that special accessory allows me to be lazy when straightening my hair, count me in.

I got this dress a month ago, and it was only $40. I have already worn it about 5 times, so I think I have worn its worth quite well.

Sometimes, when I really want to buy something, I give my husband a presentation/explanation on why I think its worth the money. I think this helps me not only get my way  remix the outfit, but also helps me with my presentation skills in front of tough crowds. #winning.

colorful romper

I apologize for my absence. I was gone eating BBQ, drinking locally brewed wheat beer, and surviving the crazy storms that Kansas brings. I know it sounds like I was on vacation, but I actually was traveling for work...

...I did eat BBQ, drink wheat beer and survive a storm though....

This past weekend, I celebrated my birthday with family. We went to my favorite town, Athens, and ate lunch outside in the warm sun, had some awesome tapas with a great Georgia Peach Martini, and danced to 80's music.

There is something special about celebrating and surrounding yourself with the people you love.

Luckily, the weather in Athens was amazing. It was 80 degrees and sunny, so I wore my favorite silk romper. Since I knew we would be walking around, I wore my new pair of wedges and added my bright blue necklace to bring even more color to my outfit.

It was sunny, so I felt like being extra colorful. The sun tends to do that to me.
